After visiting the bunker containing the guns we visited the ammunition store, which became a hospital in war time. During peace time the ammunition for the guns was stored in a central location, this made the routine checking and rotation of the ammunition easier. In the lead up to war the ammunition would be moved to the magazine in the coastal artillery bunkers, leaving the bunker free for use as a field hospital. When we visited Kravag, the first stage of decommissioning had just been completed, the ammunition had been been removed from the island and sent back to a central ammunition depot allowing us to visit the store.
